“Be selective in your battles, sometimes peace is better than being right.”
The North America Indians are probably one of the most profound spiritual teachers of life on the planet. Their philosophies are true today as they were hundreds of years ago. The one mentioned above is true when we let our ego dictate our lives to us.
Our ego’s are that part of us that says we are better than everyone else, and we are right, even though we could be wrong. It has to continually prove something to the world and our lives within it, this leads to a cheap life and false happiness.
This ego is born from insecurities we pick up as we travel through life, and mostly from others we interact with. When the ego takes over it says we have a need to survive, it brings anxiety, stress, fear and other low self esteem issues.
The way to release the ego, is to remain calm, focused, take responsibility for your actions and realise you don’t have to be right, you sometimes just need to accept things as they are. If you can do this then an inner calm prevails, thinking becomes clear and then we can act, if necessary, and not react in the way the ego encourages.
